Star Fox - Zero
Take to the skies and defend the Lylat System once again ...
ZombiU is a first-person survival horror game developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and published by Ubisoft exclusively as a Wii U launch title in November 2012. Reimagining Ubisoft's original 1986 title Zombi, the game drops players into a apocalyptic London overrun by an infected outbreak foretold by John Dee's 400-year-old prophecy.
The core gameplay loop centers on high-stakes survival exploration and resource management. Rather than playing as an invincible action hero, players take control of an ordinary human survivor armed with basic weapons, a flashlight, and a cricket bat. Ammunition is scarce, and a single bite from an infected enemy results in instant, permanent death for that character.
Upon death, the player respawns back at the safehouse as an entirely new survivor. To recover lost gear, players must venture back into the world, hunt down their previous, now-zombified character, and kill them to loot the Bug-Out Bag. Built around dual-screen tension—where looking down at the GamePad to search rucksacks or hack keypads leaves the player vulnerable on the main TV screen—ZombiU stands as a defining example of asymmetric hardware design.

Bug-Out Bag GamePad Integration: Manage your real-time inventory, scan environments for hidden loot, decipher keypads, and aim sniper scopes directly on the GamePad touchscreen.
True Permadeath Mechanics: Dying permanently ends your active survivor's journey, forcing you to spawn as a new survivor and hunt down your former infected body to retrieve stolen gear.
Tense Real-Time Vulnerability: Opening your backpack on the GamePad screen shifts the TV camera to a third-person view, leaving your survivor vulnerable to surprise attacks while organizing supplies.
Iconic London Locations: Explore atmospheric, dark renditions of historic London sites, including Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Brick Lane Market, and underground tube stations.
King of Zombi Local Multiplayer: Battle locally in an asymmetric 2-player mode where the GamePad player acts as the "Zombi King" placing mutant spawns top-down, while the TV player fights as a survivor in first-person view.
A: When your character dies, all equipped items and collected supplies remain inside their Bug-Out Bag. You respawn as a new survivor and must travel back to the exact location of your death to kill your previous character—now an infected zombie—and claim your backpack back.
A: Yes, the Wii U GamePad is required for the single-player campaign because key mechanics—such as environmental radar scanning, inventory management, lockpicking, weapon scopes, and sonar sonar features—rely on the touchscreen and motion sensors.
A: Originally, the game featured an asynchronous online system where your friends' deceased, zombified characters (carrying their personal loot) would spawn randomly inside your game world.
A: No, ZombiU does not support full Off-TV Play during the single-player campaign, as the core gameplay design requires simultaneous, dual-screen interaction between the TV display and the GamePad.
