In Shiftlings, players join Chester and Peip on a series of hazardous janitorial assignments across exotic alien planets. Unbeknownst to them, their daily struggles are broadcast live across the universe as a top-rated reality TV program hosted by a snarky alien commentator.

The core gameplay relies on a unique gas-shifting mechanic. Because their suits share a single air supply, inflating one suit instantly deflates the other. The larger, inflated character can bounce to reach high ledges, trigger heavy pressure plates, or act as a springboard for their smaller partner. Conversely, the smaller character can squeeze through narrow conduits, jump through tight gaps, and carry their heavy companion across chasms.
