Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut drops players into an enigmatic, sterile white environment with no recollection of how they arrived. Armed with high-tech magnetic gloves that interact with color-coded cubes embedded throughout the facility, players must manipulate their surroundings to escape each test chamber.
The core gameplay centers on color-coded tile interactions. Yellow blocks can be extruded into stairs or bridges, blue blocks launch objects and players upward into the air, orange blocks create springboards for high-velocity traversal, and purple blocks rotate environmental components. As the campaign progresses, puzzles introduce external variables such as giant rolling spheres, laser beams, magnetic forces, and zero-gravity physics, requiring precise timing and forward-thinking logic.
The Director's Cut edition expands upon the original release by introducing a fully voiced narrative storyline, a revamped musical score, and the "Time Trial" game mode featuring dedicated leaderboards. On the Wii U, the game offers crisp high-definition visuals, responsive dual-analog controls, and full Off-TV Play support on the GamePad display.
