PONCHO introduces a fresh perspective mechanic to traditional side-scrolling platforming. Players explore a vibrant pixel-art world constructed across three distinct depth planes: the foreground, middleground, and background.
The core gameplay centers on shifting between these parallel layers in real-time to solve environmental puzzles and traverse complex terrain. What appears as an impassable wall or a fatal drop on one plane might have a sturdy platform, ladder, or hidden pathway on another. As players venture through overgrown cities, ancient ruins, and mechanical junkyards, they gather energy cubes and interact with fellow abandoned robots to unlock new areas and uncover the mystery behind humanity's downfall.
Designed for non-linear exploration, PONCHO gives players freedom to choose their own path through its interconnected open world. On the Wii U, the game features crisp pixel-art visuals, a dynamic atmospheric soundtrack, responsive controller inputs, and full support for Off-TV Play on the Wii U GamePad display.
